    hehe.

Now, here are some of my ancestors:

    gansinger-fur-blog

it’s the “Gänsinger Kapelle” and those guys were rockin’ for sure. I am a direct decendent from this hard groovin’ german formation. As far as I know the story the family band existed for generations and moved on from Volksfest to Volksfest. Nice ;) !!!

And since we are pulling out old memories, how about this one:

that’s my very first guitar. I got it from my mother, it was her guitar she played when she was young. By the way, she’s an even more direct descendent of the Gänsingers !!! ;) Since some time now a friend of mine plays this guitar and takes care of it. Good to know that this fine Höfner is in good hands.

    1. Reinhild Ohlberg - Düsseldorf - Germany says:

      Dear Mr. Schellhass,

nice to find the picture of “Die Gänsinger”. Also my grandfather Jacob Gänsinger (*02.09.1890 +23.08.1970) – son of Jacob (*22.06.1867 + 20.12.1950) – was mistrel in Finnentrop. He was playing Flügelhorn and two of his embouchures I still have. Since the Flügelhorn was rusted through it was disposed.

      Best regards

      Reinhild Ohlberg

    Biography

Micha is a professional guitarist, songwriter, and producer.
Micha picked up the guitar at age 9 and went on to study Jazz guitar in both Germany and the Netherlands. He finished the Master Programme at HKA (Arnhem, NL) in 2007, and now performs live, writes and produces music in his studio.
Micha has been on the International and American music scene for several years, playing with DJ’s, Big Bands, Jazz Combos and Rock Bands in clubs and concert halls, as well as theather tours and Duo performances in upscale hotels.
He has been active in the United States since 2008, soaking up vibe and inspiration from the homeland of Jazz and Blues. Micha now lives in San Francisco, California and regularly travels to Los Angeles, New Mexico, and Texas for projects and creative pursuits.
In addition to performing and producing, Micha helps other musicians reach their highest potential as a bass and guitar instuctor and band coach. He has a decade of experience teaching in public and private music schools, working with private students, and running band workshops.

    Influences

As a teenager Micha submerged himself in every musical activity, from the high school’s Jazz Big Band to rock & pop cover-band projects. While studying at the Conservatory in the Netherlands, he developed a deep appreciation for traditional jazz music, fascinated by the inventive powers of the old jazz greats. Micha’s musical roots were inspired deeply by Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eddie Van Halen, two guitarists that orchestrate a tune in a complete way – changing from compin‘ riffs to fillins and solos - they effortlessly shape the whole structure of a song with the possibilities of the guitar.

Current bands and projects cover a broad variety of styles, including but not limited to: Modern Jazz, Latin, Blues, Americana, Rock, and Drum&bass
